With this project I. Panyok exhibited in major cities
of Ukraine. Such as: in Chernihiv ("Art Museum”), in Kiev (art gallery
"Ukrainian House") and in Lviv ("Lviv Palace of Arts")
(2007). In Kharkov, local authorities feared to exhibit such kind of democratic
project and the artist was refused to expose it in halls of galleries. Today
when there are no any kind of Ukrainian Democracy and thousands of people should
to stop their activities in Ukraine and escape from the political repression,
the artist considers his project relevant o the topic of your project and
believes that through the art he can express his attitude to the problem. Except
the paintings, the project includes an installation, which is aimed to develop
the democracy spirit inside visitor’s minds. In the main part of the exhibition
there is a triptych and series of paintings that tell about the history and
culture of the Ukrainian people.
I. Panyok believes that the arts can help to strengthen
the main European values, which are - freedom, solidarity and humanism.
I. Panyok plans through his project introduce to many
people the history and culture of Ukrainian nation.
In his triptych I. Panyok opens the history of the
Ukrainian people and how they were fight for the preservation of their own
ethnic culture and freedom. For hundreds of years Ukrainian fight for the right
being people and masters of their own land. They fight for their independence
and co-equal rights in the world community of nations. And on their way there were
a lot of invaders, Anti-Ukrainian-colonialists, and thieves, cultural,
spiritual and intellectual achievements, but also independence and freedom.
The triptych is built on complex associations and
philosophical reflections. For example, the left part of the picture dedicated
to the mission of militant intercession and archangels fight against darkness
and chaos, against destructive forces.
The artist emphasizes the images of the Archangel
Michael, who symbolized the spiritual mission of Ukraine – "to be Holy warrior
in the fight against evil”, from the ancient times, and the Archangel Gabriel,
who is - "Man as strong as God".
I. Panyok’s thoughts about the universe give birth to
some visual symbols. The towel in the picture is like the fate spread on the
ground and compositionally unites the whole triptych. In painting marigolds
bloom on the ground, and in the ornaments. Blue flax flower that blossoms near
the horseshoes smoothly turns to canvas of the towel, on which the grain spilled.
From the grain born an ear. And ear when it ripens born grain. It is the same
as if the Mother gives birth to Child, and this cycle impossible be
interrupted. And under the protection of the mother, through the eternal
viburnum leaves refreshed and youthful Ukraine emerged.
The composition of the right part of triptych with the
help of wavy motions lifts the viewers higher and satisfying the desire to
merge with the heavens. The artist seems to say that it is our mission - to
rebuild a society of higher morality, where harmony, personal freedom, security
and prosperity are rules.
The central part of triptych dedicated to the
culminating action - the victory over the evil. Sacral warrior depicted on the
background of Golden Gates, as if it says that spirituality of the nation is
much higher than self-interests.
The idea of the triptych is to depict the willingness
of the viewer to open himself and his soul for heroism. A clear idea of connection
between the warrior, horse and snake into one indivisible and compositional
semantic unit in the central part of the triptych combines the eternal duel of
life and death, light and darkness. It's like a prophecy of inevitable victory
of the nation, their desires and ideals, wisdom and freedom.
